Aaron Broaders scores Freebooters third goal

The Blues turned up the heat in the first half when they scored through Dessie Hayes, Dean Broaders and Aaron Broaders.

They took their foot off the pedal after the break but had done enough to see them through.

Evergreen also advanced in the national cup. They were away to Fort Rangers and scored a deserved 3-1 win with goals by Chris Whearty (2) and Jamie Owens. Liam Forristal got the consolation for the Rangers.

But the place to be for goal action was Stoneyford where the home side shared 10 goals with Wexford’s Rosslare Celtic. It ended 5-5 at the end of extra time but when it came to the penalty shoot-out it was Ross who had their shooting boots on, winning 4-2.

In the Premier Division, St Pat’s Boys showed real signs of recovery when they scored a merited 4-1 away win over Thoamstown United. Mark Timmons (2), Mark Hutchinson and Darragh Harland were the scoring Saints. Paul Dempsey got Town’s only goal.
