A DRAW was a fitting result to a crack U9 league game between Kells Road club Evergreen and Fort Rangers of Danesfort.

Sean Minogue (Evergreen) tries to find space in the penalty area.

It was Evergreen who opened the scoring early in the first half when Sean Minogue beat goalkeeper Cathal Ryan from close range.

But the teams were level when Eddie Dunne crashed home a spectacular drive which gave Evergreen’s goalkeeper no chance.

Both teams went close in their bid to grab a winner but despite a series of chances at both ends it remained a 1-1 stalemate.

Outstanding for Evergreen were Sean Minogue, Mark Nolan and Tommy Carolan. Fort’s best were Cathal Ryan, Ian Walsh and Alex Moore.

Evergreen: D. Doyle, J. Dwyer, M. Nolan, J. Bourke, S. Minogue, M. Nolan, D. Larkin, T. Carolan, J. Kelly Trant, C. Davin, D. Blackmore, C. O’Gorman, F. Byrne.
