Ghost Gallery looking for kindred spirits
A MOVE to build up an artist community in and around the area of the Coach Road – the hill leading up to St Canice's Cathedral in Kilkenny – is being initiated by the Little Ghost Gallery.
“This area has many properties to let and many empty offices and shop fronts that we feel are going to waste”, a spokesperson for the Gallery said. “This is where we feel an artistic community could step in and create an established artistic 'ghetto' of sorts. “There is a great studio space beside our gallery up for rent and we are hoping to get artists in to make a creative atmosphere. The room is split into three spaces, one large, one medium and one small. There is a storage closet and a small room to the front could be used as a darkroom if needed. “It’s a cosy little space and looks out onto the hill up to Canice’s Cathedral. The space would be ideal for an artist's studio and would comfortably house three or four artists. The space is unfurnished but we're sure there's a skip somewhere you could dip into. There is gas heating and the electricity could be run off a meter if that was more suitable. “Kilkenny is becoming a great place to set up shop as an artist. Since the new motorway opened, Dublin is less than an hour and a half away. It's 20 minutes from Thomastown and 10 minutes form Bennetsbridge. Perfect! If you’re an artist wanting to set up a new collective with a few other artists this space would be perfect and you have a gallery next door. What more do you need? “If you or someone you know would be interested in renting this space please contact us at the Little Ghost Gallery by emailing us at littleghostgallery@gmail.com and please pass the info on to anyone you know who may be interested.”
