KILKENNY will be well and truly alive tonight, Saturday, when the The Chamber of Commerce Business Awards dinner will be held at Lyrath Estate Hotel.

Once more the night will enjoy huge support from the local business community on an evening that highlights who's who in local business.

And for the first time, Kilkenny Alive will be there.

We weren't there last year or the year before simply because we didn't exist.

In fact when this year's awards were launched, our newspaper was only in the embryo stages.

That somebody/bodies thought it worthwhile to nominate us for a business award is truly humbling.

We really appreciate the man/men, woman/women, or both, who nominated us and with over 10,000 readers a week behind us we will walk tall at the function.

To be nominated for an award is a real honour. But to have reached the final is incredible.

After only two months in business, it is absolutely marvellous to be rubbing shoulders and vying for awards with some of Kilkenny's finest.

We can't say that we will bring home the bacon, but we can promise that we will battle hard.

Festivities begin at 7pm with a champagne reception. The main event is at 9pm when the overall winners will be announced.

It could be a late night. Even an early morning.

But it will be 'Breaking News' as usual tomorrow, Sunday, morning.
