Kilkenny film in line for Hollywood accolade

A KILKENNY film has been nominated for an Oscar at the annual Academy Awards in Hollywood.

The Secret of Kells, directed by Tomm Moore is one of five nominees in the Animated Feature Film category.

The film was produced by Cartoon Saloon, Les Armateurs (France) and Vivi Film from Belgium. It took over two years to produce.

The 82nd Academy Awards ceremony, presented by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, will honour the best films of 2009 on March 7 at the Kodak Theatre, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.

Hosts will be actors Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin.
