Musicians, singers and raconteurs in profile
JUNE 12 sees the opening of Pete Smith's third photographic exhibition this year.
This time Pete has trained his lens on the people he has met in various music sessions throughout the three county area of Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford.
"All of the people in this exhibition play instruments, sing, or recite poetry and stories at sessions in my local area", says Pete. They are all people I've had the great pleasure to get to know through their songs and stories, and now through photographing them".
"As I can't take photographs while I'm playing at a session, these pictures were taken in daylight hours at their houses or in their gardens, or in places that hold a special significance for them".
"So far I've photographed about 30 people, but this project is ongoing. There's at least another 30 people to be photographed, so this exhibition is really just a taste of what's to come."
'Musicians, Singers and Raconteurs' opens in the Nano Nagle Community Resource Centre, Carrick-on-Suir, during the Clancy Brothers Festival, June 12-14.. Opening hours: 11am - 4pm.
