River Nore claims two lives

THE RIVER Nore claimed two lives in Kilkenny at the weekend.

Around lunchtime on Sunday, a diver recovered the body of a 22 year old man from a stretch of the river along the Canal Walk.

And on Monday morning, shortly after 8 o'clock, a woman was spotted in the same stretch of the river.

A passer-by alerted the Emergency Services, and the woman was rushed by ambulance to St Luke's General Hospital.

Medical staff fought desperately for several hours to try to save the woman's life, but the 39 year old mother of two was pronounced dead in the early afternoon.
