River tragedy woman dies

THE WOMAN who was taken from The River Nore shortly after 8am this morning has died at St Luke's General Hospital. Medical staff at the hospital had battled throughout the day to save her life.

The 39-year-old mother of two was spotted in the water at The Canal Walk by a passer-by who alerted The Emergency Services.  She was rushed by ambulance to hospital.

The woman's name has not yet been made public. Kilkenny Alive has learned that the woman is a member of a highly respected local family.
